FIRST INTERNATIONAL JOURNEYFrom 18 to 24 February 2024, Meyrin FC’s B Youth team spent a week in Abidjan for sporting and cultural exchanges. The young players met ASEC Mimosas, Ivoire Académie, 2 Plateaux FC and Abidjan City, and experienced different neighbourhoods and local realities.
The trip combined sport with practical solidarity: equipment collected in Geneva was transported and handed to local partners. A structured donation was made to the ASEC Mimosas women’s team, including 25 pairs of boots, 4 pairs of goalkeeper gloves, balls, shirts, water bottles and bags.
On 20 February, the Swiss Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire welcomed the delegation. The young people were not passive visitors: they prepared the project, represented their club and learned directly from their hosts.
Sport is the means — people are the purpose.

Relationships built during the trip became a foundation for subsequent exchanges and projects.
A first journey outside Europe asked the young players to adapt, listen, work together and represent their club. Impact comes from the relationships as well as the equipment handed over: every community contributes its knowledge.
